The script used in Xinjiang has been a modified form of Arabic, with important exception of the mid-1960s until the early 1980s when a Latin script was used.The main entry word appears in Latin transcription, boldface type, flush left to the margin of the column. English words are syllabified according to the usual American principles of word division.
